Minimal, Progressive House, Tech House, Techno

Time is passing way too fast. It is unbelievable that five years have already gone by since label head BOHO founded Jannowitz Records back in 2014. We look back on five years full of constant growth, of ups and downs, of good music and even better music.
The fifth anniversary is a big deal for us and we have thought a lot about how to celebrate this milestone properly. That's why we decided to split the EP up into two parts - a world premiere so to speak. Two opportunities to celebrate JAW's birthday in 2019. Two opportunities to showcase the diverse sound of what the label beholds: Say hello to Alive & Death compilations!
“Alive EP” is the part of the birthday compilation that focuses on a more minimal sound than its brother Death. It's made of six unique tracks, that were carefully selected by BOHO himself and mixed by his friends Heinrich & Heine. BOHO also contributed to this particular EP with another collaboration track. He teamed up with Mycell who just made his Jannowitz Records debut as a solo artist last month. Their track “Chaser” will be chasing you from club to club. It's dark, it's minimal, it's deep, it's hypnotic - it's definitely the darkest track from the Alive part of the compilations. Next up are Peppou and Martin Stoilkov. Both artists are from Bulgaria and have released on Metodi Hristov's Set About label. Their contribution is one of the hardest of “Alive”. Their track “Sopa” is defined b a rolling baseline and true techno sound.
The third collaboration track is brought to you by Dejvid Kavazovic and Do Not. Dejvid is a Berlin based DJ and producer and you will find him on line-ups of clubs like Suicide Circus or legendary Watergate in Germany's capital. His stellar track “Believe” he did together with one of Costa Rica's finest selectors, Do Not. “Believe” is an absolute groover that fits perfectly to the original Jannowitz sound.
Then we have three tracks by solo artists on “Alive EP”. Markus Volker is back! His track “Nova” is minimalistic and very bouncy with a lovely melodic touch to it. Webby made a very straightforward and evil dance floor machine called “The Hive”. And last but not least we welcome Reza Golroo who you could now from Lenny Fontana's imprint Karmic Power Records NYC, The Iranian producer has been played by some of the big names! We're very happy to have signed his “Gangs of Freaks” track that rounds off this dance floor oriented Minimal and Deep Tech EP perfectly with a strong kick and simplistic melody that sticks in your head - just how we like it!
A big up to everyone who has been following and supporting us over the past five years! It's been amazing and we will continue to release only the best stuff that we find - in oder to keep shaping the electronic music scene in Germany, Brazil, Eastern Europe and everywhere else!

“Death EP” focuses on the darker and harder side of Jannowitz Records. That doesn't mean that “Alive” doesn't feature harder techno tracks, but all in all “Death” showcases the heavier sounds.
It starts off with Ballroom Records' favorite AlBird - a good friend of the label and a companion for sears. His track “Starling” is an absolute tune and the perfect opener for this very strong EP.
Next, we have Brazilian superstar Coppola - super young, super cool, super producer with lots of releases and contributions to Jannowitz Records throughout the years. “Farewell” is as progressive as everything we've heard from Coppola on our imprint. Berlin's Foolik, who you will know as a resident at infamous Sisyphos club has produced what is the slowest of the Death compilation tracks “Launch Control”. It's striking in many ways, not only because of the tempo but also because Foolik achieved a rich and contemporary sound that fits perfectly with the rest of the EP. As a contrast, the fourth track “Mood 1993” is probably the hardest of them all. Austrian DJs and producers Rabo and Traumata made this beauty of a track that puts you right back into the mood of the 90s rave and trance era. Welcome to the label guys!
As you all know, we love our Brazilian JAW crew members. We've had many of them on the label with amazing productions. Now it's time for a new edition: Thiago Monteiro from Campinas likes the dark side of electronic music - just like we do. His track “Polar” was exactly what we expected of him when we asked him to join the label: dark, dirty and heavy! Similarly heavy, yet more groovy is “Behind the Wall” by Madtales, the Berlin duo made of KitKat club's darling Grace Thompson and Ryan Dupree who has released on Stil vor Talent among others. We love “Behind the Wall” because of its unique muffled vocal that gives it a creepy touch that works perfectly with the screeching synths. And last but not least, PONTE (you might have heard his Jannowitz Podcast) closes the EP with a deep and melodic techno track - check it out!

The story began during a dimmed night very close to dark and purling Spree river in Berlin – directly under the legendary and well known Jannowitz brigde, which connects the southern Luisenstadt (Berlin-Friedrichshain) with Stralauer Viertel (Alexanderstraße) in the north. Right under the brick crafted bridge, Lars Kohl and Linus Elter had the very first spark of an idea, which they implemented to hundreds of technolovers within short time: rearrange your boarders and be authentic! Since that day, individuality and personality are in the focus of the productions of all labelacts – counting international names such as Khainz, Cosmic Boys, Carlo Ruetz, Matt Sassari, Betoko, Makism Dark or a row of brasilian superstars like Alex Stein, Fractall, Flow & Zeo, Eudi and Andre Gazolla in. It’s a continuous process and change, who is driving the Jannowitz family to new dimensions. The inner circle of the imprint raises regularly as a phoenix out of the masses, always in focus, not to lose all connections to mainstream landscapes. Our motto: „We develop groovy techno with a special touch of melodic & minimal madness“ and yes, that’s why we are Jannowitz Records! The label has received some amazing support from techno pioneers like: Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer, Dubfire, Laurent Garnier, Chris Liebing, Alex Stein, Marco Carola and many more.... And dropped some nice Beatport chart hits.
